Mini POS
Thermal receipt printers come in two common widths. Picking the right one avoids cut-off text, wasted paper and a trip back to the shop. Here is how to decide, and how to print branded receipts from a browser-based POS.

Choose 80mm for shops and restaurants that print itemised receipts with a logo and longer item names, and 58mm for compact counters, food trucks and mobile use. Both are thermal: no ink needed. Browser-based POS systems, including the Socialknocks mini POS, print to any printer your device supports at 58mm, 80mm or A4.
| 58mm | 80mm | |
|---|---|---|
| Paper width | Narrow | Wider, the most common for shops |
| Best for | Food trucks, market stalls, mobile counters | Cafes, restaurants, retail counters |
| Fits | Short item names, simple receipts | Logo, longer names, more columns |
| Size | Smaller printer, lighter | Larger printer, more readable text |
| Rolls | Cheaper and smaller rolls | Slightly larger rolls |
A browser-based POS prints through your device's print system, so you do not need special drivers from the POS vendor: if your computer or tablet can print to the printer, the POS can too. With the Socialknocks mini POS you choose 58mm, 80mm or A4 in Receipt Settings, and each receipt prints with your logo, address, phone and an itemised table. See the full mini POS overview.
Browsers normally show a print dialog. For hands-free printing at a counter, many shops set the browser to print silently to a default printer (for example Chrome's kiosk-printing mode). That setting is configured on your device, and the in-app help guide in Socialknocks explains the steps. Test it before opening day.

Pick the paper size that matches your printer.
Orders queue on the device and sync when internet returns.
Staff-entered orders with variants and add-ons.
Percent or fixed, shown on the receipt.

The paper width. 80mm is the most common for shops and fits more text, while 58mm is more compact for mobile or small counters.
80mm is usually better because itemised receipts with add-ons need more room.
No. They print with heat on special thermal paper.
A browser-based POS prints to any printer your device supports. Test yours first, because compatibility depends on your device and printer.
Yes. The Socialknocks mini POS prints your store logo at the top of the receipt.
